A phone call between Gwen and Arthur, set after the thread with Anya 'These Words are My Own
Arthur: I need your help.
Gwen: (after a long wait) Fuck off. Prat.
Arthur: Gwen, I’m serious.
Gwen: So am I.
Arthur: It’s not for me.
Gwen: I don’t care. You’re an absolute idiot, do you know that? A complete and utter idiot. What makes you think I’d ever want to help you?
Arthur: Like I said, its not for me, its for Anya.
Gwen: (long pause) Who?
Arthur: Anastasia. Russian Princess. Red hair.
Gwen: What is with you and woman with red hair?
Arthur: Look would you just come down here and help her.
Gwen: With what?
Arthur: Clothes, and styling, and all the things everyone says you’re good at.
Gwen: Who’s said that?
Arthur: (long pause) Merlin might have mentioned you styled his hair when I woke up.
Gwen: Right. Yes I did. So?
Arthur: So I need you to do the same with Anya, I need you to make her look eye-poppingly hot.
Gwen: The same? You want me to use my expert skills to make this Anya as eye poppingly hot as I made Merlin?
Arthur: Yes. I mean-not that I think Merlin was eye poppingly hot-
Gwen: uh huh?
Arthur: Look, all I meant was, you’re clearly into this sort of thing and I have heard from other people that you’re good…so…come on. Just do it. Please.
Gwen: (long pause) why?
Arthur: Because we want Dimitri to chase her, to see what he’s missing and knock some sense into him.
Gwen: Trust me, it’s been done, it doesn’t work.
Arthur: we’ll never know unless we try.
Gwen: that’s not what I was asking anyway. Why are YOU doing it? Why is it YOU that’s asking me?
Arthur: I just think they deserve to be together.
Gwen: Right, sure. And why should I help? What’s in it for me?
Arthur: My eternal gratitude?
Gwen: No thanks.
Arthur: My forgiveness?
Gwen: (silence)
Arthur: Because you know you’re going to do it anyway because the minute I said it was for someone else that really good and nice part of you kicked in. Because you wouldn’t allow a nice girl like Anya miss out on the opportunity of being with her True Love. Because deep down you’re a true romantic, who could look past her hatred of me to help a poor girl. (long pause) because I’m begging you.
